Since its first application as an instrument of war, enough evidence has accumulated to stress the importance of air power as an integral part of combined operations.This article concentrates on what air power is, how it may best be applied and then analyses the problems that arise from the composition of the Air Force due to the geographical, political, military and economical situation of the RSA.
