Toneelfilms was die eerste films wat vir onderrigdoeleindes gebruik is Wanneer daar van onderrigfilms gepraat is, is die term in 'n wye konteks gebruik en dit het nie noodwendig beteken dat hierdie films uitsluitlik vir skool- of kollegedoeleindes bedoel was nie.
