DIE ONTSTAAN VAN VROUELUGVERENIGINGS IN SUID-AFRIKA VOOR DIE TWEEDE WÊRELDOORLOG
Abstract
The Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) came into existence shortly before the Second World War when certain key figures succeeded in generating interest in civil aviation among a number of women in South Africa. The WAAF's contribution to the SA Air Force's activities in the Second World War was considerable and is briefly discussed in the article. The organization, conditions of service and certain aspects of service life are outlined and attention is also given to the services rendered by members of the WAAF in the Middle East.Downloads
